What’s it like being a female sneaker collector in Tokyo?
It is very tough. The sneaker game is very big. There are more sneaker stores than you expect. Most Tokyo kids are into sneakers and fashion. Many sneakers are coming out every week in Tokyo. (Sometimes Japan Exclusive or Limited Edition) There is a long line all the time! So Tokyo kids have to wait in line for a long time to get special ones. It seems crazy and tough.

Can you remember the first pair you were crazy about?
Wow, that is a good question. I can remember the whole thing. My father and I went shopping to buy my 15th birthday present. It was 1995. Yea…Air Max ’95 is the first pair I was crazy about. Max 95 got very, very popular, but it was difficult to get them as you know… Since I went to junior high school with Air Max 95s many guys were jealous and asked me, ”Damn!!!! Where did you get those??” I felt I became a hero…hahahaha!!! I think the Air Max 95 made me a Sneakerhead. So I have been collecting sneakers for about 10 years or so…

How did where you grew up impact your sneaker style?
I used to work at sneaker stores in Harajuku, Shibuya and Daikanyama for 3 years.( Tokyo is one of the hottest cities in the sneaker scene. Especially, these 3 places are very famous in Tokyo.) Those 3 years were a very important experience for me. I got knowledge (each sneaker has its own history), and I got my style. I think the store was the best in Japan. I am really happy that I worked there. I have met lots of people who really like sneakers. My friends have good taste in sneakers. Many thanks to my boss!!!

And then I have been to New York many times. I really wanted to see a new world. New York inspired me. I felt everything is new. So I am planning to study in New York this year. I cannot wait to go there again!!!!

Describe your sneaker collection.
I love classic sneakers. For example, Air Force 1s, Dunks, Jordans, Superstars and Campus. Also I like sneakers that have crazy colors. Undefeated always makes attractive sneakers.

How do you know that you’re a sneaker fiend?
I like good sneakers with good style…

I will keep searching for something NEW, DOPE and FRESH.

I would say a sneaker is not just a shoe, so I want to know the history of each one.

What else do you want to say to female sneaker fiends?
Finally, I am so glad I found this site. I think the sneaker game is getting bigger, but there are few female sneaker heads. I want to start a sneaker business for females in the near future. So please contact me if you need help.
