Interns Fall 08
Hey all, just a heads up about the Dream Team of interns we have at FSF this Fall. From Christa, a Photo Intern who's on her way to being a sneaker designer, to 3--count 'em--3 journalism interns including Janine, a nasty spoken word artist who's gonna keep us posted on some performers who are tight from tongue to toe, Emma, a baller and teacher who'll keep us connected with the sports side of kicks, and Mickey, a journalism major who's gonna rep for the international sneaker scene. Don't sleep on these ladies!

Christa Setterlund, Illinois, USA
I love sneakers, bright and colorful, bold and classic. If I had smaller feet, I would have bought every pair of Low-Rise Dunks I could get my hands on. I have a fascination with sneakers and photography, so I thought, what could be better than combining them both? I'm double majoring in Industrial Design and Photography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have been building and creating since I was old enough to pick up blocks, and I can't wait to put my ideas into production! I hope to bring my inspiration to this site and inspire others to find their passion and make it their career! |

Mickey Keenan, Sydney, Australia
I love food, music, art toys and sneakers. I’ve had sneakers since I was a kid, and remember wearing Reebok Hexalites during the early 90’s, I think I was 11. A few years later, I began to appreciate the history and design of different sneakers, and I just love them. I love reading and researching about kicks, seeing the different collaborations, the different styles, the thrill of getting a new pair or finding sneakers you’ve wanted for ages… I find myself checking out peoples’ kicks at gigs instead of looking at the band playing. I think my collection might reflect my personality: it’s random and crazy but also quiet and minimalist. I like art and have Neckface Vans, Fafi Adicolors, and Colette x MOB frees... My fave pair I own: Reebok Omni Zone II’s (1991) still with the tissue paper. Pump it up! |

Student, Superhero and Sneaker fiend, Janine represents for the twenty-one
and UNDER crowd. As a young writer/spoken word artist and budding street-wear fashionista she believes in artistic expression as a tool for social change. Who said slang speaking, fly sneaker wearing young women couldn't change the world? |

Emma Carmichael, NYC, USA
Emma Carmichael (posing here with basketball greats Theresa Edwards and Swin Cash), is originally from Brattleboro, VT and is now a junior at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she is working toward an Urban Studies degree and her first winning basketball season. She has been living in Manhattan since late July, when she took a job as a nocturnal researcher for NBC Olympics and learned the finer points of skeet shooting and sailing regulations. This semester she can be found student-teaching in a 10th grade Geometry classroom in Williamsburg by day, checking for size 11 Dunks at Supreme New York by afternoon, and eating takeout burritos from the cart on 86th & Lex by night. |
As excited as we are about our new crew, we're still greedy! If you want to add yourself to the squad, contact us and tell us what you'd like to do. If you'd like more info on other internship opportunities in the sneaker and streetwear industries, check our internship guide.
